Weeks of June 27 and July 4, 2022 KPI Summary
- In the last two weeks, the industry experienced 16 ETF launches and 3 closures, shifting the 1-year Open-to-Close ratio to 4.27 and total US ETFs to 2,968.
- As the 2nd Quarter of 2022 has wrapped up, let’s take a look at some KPIs that stand out (comparing April 3, 2022 to July 3, 2022)
- Total assets decreased -12.03%, there was an increase of 68 ETFs to total US ETF count (2,968), and 3 additional issuers by brand.
- From our 11 asset class categories, Managed Futures increased the most (102.95%) with Currency in second (38.95%). Geared/Swaps had the worst performance (-23.77%) with Equity next (-14.67%). The two largest asset classes of Equity (75.98% of assets) and Fixed Income (18.90%) dropped -14.67% and -0.30% respectively.
- ETF expense ratio 12-month revenue dipped from $12.46 Billion to $10.76 Billion.
- The revenue from Active ETFs increased from 10.87% to 11.68%.
- With Equities sinking, total ETF assets in Quarter 2 have tumbled to 2020 year-end levels. There is a slight decrease in the average growth in funds and issuers from prior quarters, but still an upward trajectory.
- The tracked indexes had similar experiences in Q2 2022. The Toroso ETF Industry Index was down -19.41% while the S&P Financial Select Sector Index led at -16.14%.
