Week of October 2, 2023 KPI Summary

• This week, the industry experienced 26 ETF launches and 2 closures, shifting the 1-year Open-to-Close ratio to 2.18 and total US ETFs to 3,301.
• The 3,300 ETF threshold has been crossed for the first time. While it took exactly 1 year to get from 3,000 to 3,200 total ETFs, it’s only taken a mere 42 days to get across the 3,300 mark.
  • In the past 3 weeks alone, we have had 78 launches and 5 closures, a record number of launches in a 3-week period.
    • Over the 6-week period, there has been 105 launches and 13 closures.
  • In the past 6 weeks, the issuer count has increased +6.
  • In previous iterations of these +100 ETF milestone updates, we have noted that it took 147 days from 2,900 to 3,000 AND 3,000 to 3,100. A weird coincidence. Well, that trend has not continued with the last two time periods being 217 days and 42 days respectively (129.5-day average).
• The tracked indexes experienced a similar performance last week. The Toroso ETF Industry Index was down -1.36% while the S&P Financial Select Sector Index led at -0.41%.
