ETF Industry KPI – 8/30/2021

Week of August 23, 2021 KPI Summary
  • This week, the industry experienced 10 new ETF launches and 2 closures, shifting the 2021 1-year Open-to-Close ratio to 2.53 and total US ETFs to 2,622.
  • The month of August was a good month in the ETF Industry thus far (KPIs below comparing 8/1/2021 to 8/29/2021)
    • Total assets increased approximately 2.42%, an increase of 17 ETFs to total US ETF count, and 4 additional issuers by brand.
    • From our 11 asset class categories, Options increased the most (5.54%) and Commodities Physical had the largest drop (-4.27%), which is the same two categories as July. The two largest asset classes of Equity (78.06% of assets) and Fixed Income (17.41%) both grew 2.87% and 1.06% respectively.
    • Similar to July, the ETF Market share of listings stayed close to the same while the ETF ER 12-month revenue grew from approximately $12.01 to $12.23 Billion in the month of August.
    • August saw very similar growth in our main KPI categories, except only 17 additional ETFs total compared to a whopping 49 in July.
