ETF Industry KPIs – 12/21/2020

Week of December 14, 2020 KPI Summary

This week, the industry experienced 4 new ETF launches and a shocking 15 closures. The Open-to-Close ratio dropped from 0.95 to 0.89 and total US ETFs decreased to 2,298. US ETF assets increased from $5.32 to $5.34 Tn this week, and YTD rose over 2.5% to 22.88%. This is tacking onto the bull market of the last 3 months. Referencing the September 21st KPIs, US ETF assets have surged nearly $800 Bn in the past 3 months, around 14% of ETF’s total assets. In that same period, ETF Expense Ratio 12-month revenue has escalated from $8.48 to $10.08 Bn and added 11 more issuers to the ETF industry.

Both indexes experienced minimal change this week, but the Toroso ETF Industry Index is still outperforming the S&P Financial Select Sector Index in YTD returns. TETFindex stands at 23.7% YTD, while S&P stands at negative -5.4% YTD.
